So immense is human desolation, that holds so tight to whatever give us just a bit of order and belonging
Imagine for just a second that you were nothing. Like really nothing, nothing... Imagine that we were no more than an infinitely complex dream of "something else." That your life, all of your existence and that of your parents, ancestors, culture, country, your species, the whole Earth and the Sun and the Galaxy and everything... were of no more consequence that any of the phantoms inhabiting your very own dreams. Imagine that there is no up or down, end or beginning, evil or good, truth or falsehood... Would you be able to cope? Would you be able to continue living knowing that truth? Would you try to forget with anything the truth of your in-existence? So immense is human ignorance, that maybe it's the greater of our virtues... This is the message behind the story of the tree of knowledge...
